It was bloody, merciless, and swift: the first round of BAR MADNESS saw so many favorites bite the dust, it isn’t even funny. (This would be a key difference between BAR MADNESS and March Madness, because seeing a #1 seed lose to a #16 seed is usually hilarious.)
Here are your current standings. A few highlights:
1. No one can go up against the Tune Inn and live to tell the tale, at least in the early stages: Pennsylvania Avenue favorite Hank’s on the Hill is gone in the first round, despite having been a solid qualifier in years past.
2. In one of the most crushing defeats in recent time, H Street stalwart Argonaut absolutely crushed fellow H Street establishment Cusbah, winning by more than 300 points– the largest win margin of any of the contests!
3. We had a few nail-biters, such as Cava beating The Big Board (ooops! Other way around! The Big Board won– MHC) by a scant 15 votes and Acqua al 2 winning over Hill institution Mr. Henry’s by 31 votes.
