Due to technical difficulties we couldn’t post To Do yesterday. We are so sorry if you missed the Koch brothers talk…

Thursday at the Hill Center Roll Call and Hooks Books host author Dan Schulman for a book-signing event. Complimentary copies of the book, Sons of Wichita: How the Koch Brothers became America’s Most Powerful and Private Dynasty, will be distributed on a first come-first served basis. The event begins at 6pm and is free. Register here.

Friday night at CHAW Taffety Punk presents an original piece by actress Kimberly Gilbert.  She brings the character of Ophelia to life in her original work, Enter Ophelia, distracted.  Hamlet audiences have often wondered what the heck happens to Ophelia since madness seems to descend upon her awfully quickly. The piece, using choreography of Erin Mitchell, brings Ophelia to the forefront and perhaps gives a clue as to why she falls so far, so fast.  Four performances only. For tickets and more information go here.

Saturday is Ward 6 Family Day hosted by Councilmember Tommy Wells. This year the event will be held at Eliot-Hine Middle School (1830 Constitution Ave NE) from 1pm -5pm.  There will be food, games, music and give-aways for everyone! We are partnering with Edgewood Brookland, Serve Your City, Capitol Hill Group Ministries, Diaper Bank and many other groups. Councilmember Wells is using this year’s Family Day to raise awareness of youth homelessness. Wells urges Ward 6 to join the Capitol Hill Public School Parents Organization (CHPSPO) school uniform drive and to get acquainted with youth-serving organizations such as the Playtime Project. Community members are strongly encouraged to purchase a school uniform (or portion thereof) through this link: http://amzn.com/w/SGKH8FLM7WFU. All donations will be stored for the summer, courtesy of Ward 6’s Evolve Property Management, and CHPSPO will oversee distribution to ensure that school uniforms are provided to as many homeless students as possible prior to the 2014-15 school year. Have fun and help your neighbors!

Gallery O/H hosts as part of the citywide DC Jazzfest.  Gates open at 7pm and the music starts at 8pm. Drinks and snacks from local eateries are available. More information can be found here.

Sunday the American Roots Music series at the Hill Center continues with  Honky Tonk Confidential , an award-winning local alt/retro country band. The concert goes from 5pm-7pm on the West Lawn of the center. So pack a picnic and enjoy the atmosphere of summer in our lovely neighborhood.

Have a great weekend!
