I admit it: whenever my electrical bill comes, I am always baffled as to how my household is capable of using/spending/wasting THAT MUCH energy in just one month– even in the months where there is no air conditioning and there is no need to leave the lights on a lot, lest you never get out of bed again. But I would like to know more about my energy consumption, even if it is painful to know. Apparently, I am not alone in this, because not only is the city rolling out shiny and new electric meters all over (we recently welcomed a nice Pepco man to switch ours out), but the Homeowners’ Club at Housing Counseling Services is having a meeting on reducing your electric consumption by understanding how the new smart meters work. Smart meters take more accurate readings of your electricity consumption, and they offer two-way communication between your home and your energy provider. You can click here to read a little more about them on Pepco’s site.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 25 at 6:30 pm at the HCS’s offices, 2410 17th St. NW. If you would like to attend or would like more details on the meeting, you can email Ronald Clarkson at ronaldclarkson [at] housingetc [dot] org or call him at 202-667-7006.
Do you think anyone at this meeting would know about when or if Pepco is going to remove the unsightly non-smart meter cables from the backs of our houses? Calling the main Pepco line is useless.
