How is this second official day of summer treating you, dear readers? The thing I have the hardest time with when the temperatures spike into the 90s is that my office cranks up the A/C so much I want to pull out my winter sweaters and gloves. But if I dress to stay warm at my desk, I am overheating before I get even halfway home. So I resort to breaking office rules and stash a space heater under my desk. Shhhh! Don’t tell! Anyway, let that cup of coffee warm your hand while you catch up on some reading instead of those work emails.
- Frozen Tropics has lots of pictures and updates on the Argonaut fire, and Young & Hungry reports that they hope to re-open by August. And if you haven’t heard already, there will be a fundraiser for the Ago at Rock and Roll Hotel on Wednesday night.
- The Washington Post profiled Tom Kelly, “unofficial mayor of Capitol Hill”
- H Street Great Street reports that The Atlas will open in the old Napa 1015 space, and Posh Consignment store will be moving to the corridor from its current location in NW. The blogger also has details on the expansion of Granville Moore’s.
- Serious Eats interviewed Good Stuff’s Spike Mendelsohn and reviewed his cookbook. (hey Spike, how about sending THIH a copy for us to review?!)
- Norm Metzger has an update and some opinions about the latest on the Marine’s “Community Integrated Master Plan.”

I remember a time when Tom Kelly told the Stanton Park neighborhood Association that at one time, Capitol Hill did not go more east than 4th St.
Can you not leave a sweater/coat at your office?
