Washington, D.C., circa 1917. “National Capital Brewery.” The National Capital Brewing Co. plant at 14th and D Streets S.E. The company, which owned a number bars in downtown Washington, switched to making Carry’s Ice Cream with the onset of Prohibition. The brewery’s boiler room furnace figured in a sensational murder case in 1912.
