Elections:

Meet The Candidates: Yair Inspektor ANC 6A05

We have offered to post brief statements from all of the ANC candidates running for seats on Capitol Hill and the surrounding neighborhoods that we cover here on The Hill is Home.  These statements are not endorsements and have been posted exactly as submitted by the candidates.

6d05Dear Neighbor,

As a first generation American, I have experienced first-hand the importance of a strong, supportive community: people of varied backgrounds who care for one another, keep an eye out for one another, and know each other’s first names. As a former public school teacher, education-based lawyer, and local policy advisor, I have dedicated my life’s work to listening to and advancing the interests of my community and neighbors. I am running to be our Advisory Neighborhood Commission representative for 6A05 because I am committed to working for all of our Capitol Hill community in making it an even better place to live.

For the past several months, I have been going from door to door, connecting with my neighbors to better understand the needs and concerns of our small corner of this city. When I asked how we could improve our neighborhood, the same themes kept cropping up: people want a clean neighborhood; safe streets; more transparency and input on major decisions that will impact their daily lives, such as the Maryland Ave Safety Project; and most importantly, a sense of togetherness. These four concerns will guide me in this work in ANC6A.

If elected, I will work with all of our neighbors and the ANC to create more opportunities to get to know each other, to hear from each other, and to keep each other better informed. As your ANC representative, I will make myself available to you and our community, I will listen to your suggestions, and I will work to bring us together in any way I can. My aim is to build relationships with and between all of our neighbors, and also with our neighboring ANCs.

I’m asking for your vote this November, so that we can work together. If you plan to vote in person on Election Day – Tuesday, November 8th – you’ll find me in front Minor Elementary School – please stop by and say hello! Between now and then, I want to hear from you. Please write me a note at InspektorANC2016@gmail.com or drop me a line at 202.798.0638 for more information about me, my platform, and especially any comments or concerns that you might have regarding our neighborhood. I look forward to working with you and our community.
