Jon Penndorf

Jon Penndorf has been a Capitol Hill resident since 2006 but has lived in (and close-in to) Washington DC since 1995, and wonders when he can start telling people he is “from here” instead of saying he moved here for college from New York. An architect specializing in green design, Jon works for a large architecture firm with an office in Northwest DC. Off-the-clock he enjoys spending time outside with his family, traveling, making and sampling gin and bourbon cocktails, finding new restaurants to try, and of course writing. He contributes to local and national architecture association newsletters on a regular basis in addition to writing for THIH. Jon lives with his wife, daughter, son, and cat in their SE Hill rowhouse.

greenHILLhome: Solar Panels, Part 3

We’ve covered the basics on how solar photovoltaic systems work, the tax incentives and rebates available, and the local Co-op working for solar power world domination (okay that’s a stretch but they are working hard at making it possible).  In this last installment (for now), we’ll visit with a couple more Hill residents who have […]

“Gretty Good Time” at H Street Playhouse

From the title, “Gretty Good Time” may sound like one of those frivolous musicals from the 1930s or a comedy farce originating from England.  The play, being performed at the H Street Playhouse now through July 3 and directed by Jeanette Buck, is neither of those.  It is, instead, an intimate look at the internal […]
