I’m back! And what a crazy busy first week back at work it has been…and all I want to do is day dream about being back on vacation. This city girl, who had never hiked a day in her life before this spring, hiked for four days along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. I discovered how painful breathing is when climbing a trail to 14,000 feet with a backpack full of gear. But I did it and wow, what a view! And that was just day two of the hike. Thankfully, there were no Van der Sloots along the trail; just some great fellow hikers and guides showing us the way. Also absent for four days: motorized vehicles, cell phones, electricity (until the last night), and internet. Being fully disconnected was amazing, especially since my job has me online and in front of a computer all day long. But now I’m back to following all of my favorite local blogs, sharing some of the better posts with you on a hot summer morning.
- Politico toured Barracks Row with lobbyist John Scofield.
- Young & Hungry too a look at the story behind Acqua al 2
- According to Frozen Tropics, Prince of Petworth and H Street Great Street, Sticky Rice will be expanding.
- H Street Great Street also reported that Granville Moore’s will be expanding, not into the neighboring buildings as previously rumored, but into their basement.
- Frozen Tropics reported that Capital City Diner is working on getting the permits for a summer garden.
- Bitches who Brunch reviewed brunch at Belga Cafe, one of my favorite spots on the Hill.
