Hill Real Estate By the Numbers

Even as the numbers of listings in the DC market continues to rise, the number of days homes are on the market is staying low. September saw a 16.5-percent increase in number of listings from September 2012, the sixth consecutive month with double-digit increases in year-over-year comparisons. However, the median-days-on-market was 17 days in September, which is the lowest September-level since the peak of the housing boom in 2005.

That trend is also apparent on the Hill, where average days on market in September in both 20002 and 20003 was 24 – compared to the citywide number of 40 in September.

When you step back and take a look at the big picture across the country it’s pretty amazing how well the Hill is doing.

In many parts of the country this figure is north of 90 days.  As a practicing professional with a focus on the Hill, I certainly feel very fortunate.  We really are one of the strongest markets in the USA.
