Pret A Manger, the London chain that has been spreading through DC since 2009, will be opening at 301 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE next spring. Cosi has been in that space for 15 years; no news yet on its closing date. Douglas Development, which owns the building stated in a press release that “Pret A Manger will thrive undoubtedly, given this building’s location and outdoor seating.”
Pret has actually become one of my go-to lunch spots downtown when I’m in a rush, since there is one located at the entrance to my office building. The soups are tasty, the smell of the freshly baked goods is hard to resist, and the sandwiches and salads are great when you’re looking for a quick meal. They also donate all unsold food to area groups that feed those in need, which I is a business practice I very much appreciate.
