August has officially arrived in DC – Congress is in recess, half of the city has disappeared on vacation, and the heat and humidity is upon us.  If you are one of the few still in town, enjoy a quick round up of news from around the blogs over the last week:

  • JDLand and DCist announced that we’ll soon be getting water taxi service at Diamond Teague Park when the Nationals are in town.  Maybe one day there will be regular service that will provide another way to get to Georgetown or Old Town, although I’m guessing that is still a ways off.
  • Greater Greater Washington recapped an August 6 meeting at the Atlas Theater on the streetcar project.  While many questions still remain, progress is being made.
  • DC Beer Week events begin on Sunday!  Frozen Tropics gave us a quick rundown of the H Street businesses that will be participating.  According to the DC Beer Week website, Belga Cafe, Capitol Lounge, and Lounge 201 will also be participating. (We’ll bring you more in depth coverage soon.)
  • Tommy Wells assured us on his blog that the recent utility work that left scars along the newly paved 7th Street at Eastern Market will be repaired soon.
