It’s been a busy week around the Hill as we say goodbye to summer and hello to fall.  Here’s a look back at what other bloggers have been saying about our lovely piece of the city.

  • The untimely passing of long-time Hill resident, Bruce Robey, received tributes from Mark Segraves on WTOP (linked to by The Voice of the Hill and DCist), and Frozen Tropics.  Robey was a husband, father, grandfather, neighborhood, and very active member of the community.  He left a wonderful mark on Capitol Hill community and will be truly missed.
  • H Street Festival drew a huge crowd and great weather last Saturday.  Frozen Tropics (click through to her Flickr page for a lot of great pictures), The Capitol Fashionista, Foxymoron, and futurejunkie (who has pictures of the Real World cast at the festival) all have great recaps and pictures from the day.
  • It was five years ago yesterday (Monday the 21st) that JDLand reported that MLB was looking at a piece of land on the Southeast side of the Hill for a new baseball stadium for the Expos.  Dupree linked back to that post and shared several photos of what the neighborhood looked like not so very long ago. It’s amazing to see how much has changed on the other side of the freeway.
  • Barry Farm (Re)mixed posted pictures of the new tracks being laid on H Street for the planned street cars.
  • Greater Greater Washington showed us the proposed plans for the strip mall on H Street.  It will be torn down and replaced with a retail and residential mixed-use building that will contain 409 apartments and 50,000 square feet of retail.
  • DCist reported on the stabbing of a Subway employee by some teen girls over a dispute about bringing in outside food to the restaurant.
  • Frozen Tropics and DCist reported on a daytime shooting on H Street last week.
  • News Channel 8 interviewed Hill residents for reactions about the announcement that Stanton/Eastbanc won the big to redevelop the Hine School site.
