The To Do List

Sadly, this weekend has no added length to recommend it.  Happily, there are still many fun things to do, even if you don’t get to sleep in late an extra day– and by “many” I definitely mean FOOD.  Need I remind you that it’s RESTAURANT WEEK?! This is the week that pretty much kills any faint trace of resolutions sticking around– except that at least your wallet is spared, right?  And as if that were not enough,  H STREET EATS is also going on!  Lucky, lucky you!  Just make sure you make your reservations early, so you can take advantage of all the fabulous menus local eateries have put together just for your eating pleasure.  And seriously– this much eating should pretty much make your weekend.

But if you need a few other things to keep you happy and busy, then why not start the weekend early and catch Laura Elkins’s show, titled “White House Negligée” at the Fridge, either Thursday or Friday at 7 pm?  See the FLOTUS and her significance addressed in a novel way!  The Fridge is located at 516 8th Street, SE, rear alley.
On Saturday, from 8-10 pm, go hang out at the Tune Inn for a great cause: Make Noise Night! ONE HUNDRED PERCENT (you read right!) of the night’s proceeds will go to benefit the Make Some Noise: Cure Kids Cancer foundation, so there is little to no excuse for you not to show up and have a pint at the very least.  The Tune Inn is located at 331 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.

On Sunday, a real treat if you’re into playing games– and honestly, who isn’t?  Get thee to Labyrinth Games and Puzzles, 645 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE,  for an afternoon of European board games!  From 1-5 pm you can get your game on, hoity-toity style with such fun-sounding games as Carcasonne, Ticket to Ride, and Zooloretto.  Gamers-to-be probably should be over 10, so as to derive maximum enjoyment!

Finally, you can pretend it’s still the weekend and celebrate the grand re-opening of Bullfeathers on Monday, January 24th!  After a change of ownership and a dormant “beautification” period, they will be open starting Monday at 11 am.  Toast the beginning of a new week with a beer and a burger, and don’t worry: the weekend will be just four more days away then.

You can always start your diet next week.
