Welcome back to the first five-day week you’ve had in at least two weeks. Sorry to break the news but it is, in fact, only Tuesday and you are not even half way through the week yet. My work computer could not have been more unhappy yesterday to be turned on after a five day break… making for an unpleasant start to my Monday morning. Here’s to hoping Tuesday kicks off a bit more smoothly.
I think it’s a double shot of espresso day for a lot of people out there.
- JD Land reported that Yards Park will play host to the DC Music Fest on May 7.
- In case you missed the news, Sticky Rice was forced to briefly close because of a non-fatal stabbing. Frozen Tropics has a few details and a note from the owners that they are open again but are not serving alcohol until the ABRA hearing on the incident. DCist also has some details.
- Bright yellow stickers hat appeared on doors before Christmas raised concerns about a scam or way for burglars to mark empty houses…turns out it was just a really poorly planned marketing promotion by Long Fence and Home. Oops (TBD).
- A hobbyist photographer found possible remains at the DC General Complex (Washington Post).
- Tasting Table checked out Ba Bay.
- The Washington Post mentioned the soon-to-open Toki Underground in an article about the continually growing food and art scene in DC. (Cue NYTimes snarky criticism in three…two…).

The continually growing food and art scene is SO much better in NYC. I don’t even bother eating or looking at art anywhere else. They just can’t get the crust right. I think it’s the water.
Only if NYC remembers to plow the streets the galleries and eateries are on…seems like they forgot a couple burroughs last week…
