Hey everyone! Hope your end of February is going well and that you survived yesterday’s State of the Union address. I decided my beauty rest was more important than 108 minutes of braying, but I know that for many of you out there, this is your job. Take a nap if you need to! By the way, our crime rate got mentioned in the speech––albeit incorrectly. For correct figures, read this article from DC News Now

First of, both Maru San and Little Engine opened recently. I was invited to a preview on Monday evening at Maru San and it was absolutely incredible. If you are a fan of incredibly fresh fish, crispy nori and food that has beautiful looks and a big personality, this place won’t disappoint. Check out this short Instagram reel I put together about it. As for Little Engine, the chicken is pure rotisserie goodness and the sauces and sides are great. The 51st takes a look at all of our skyrocketing Pepco bills. By the way, there will be a hearing on February 27 on this particular subject and you can learn more about it here.

Another The 51st article that you won’t want to miss, especially since tax season is upon us, examines the legal opinon that AG Brian Schwalb wrote, in which he basically says that Congress took too long to effectively repeal our tax bill. May we always be protected by technicalities.

Oh and AG Brian Schwalb reached settlements with landlords who manage two properties in Ward 7. This will hopefully improve the quality of life at Benning Court and Azeeze Bates, located near the H Street Corridor. Yay for regular pest control? OAG Brian Schwalb
