Hey! Are you looking for a way to connect with neighbors in a significant way or, if you’re a high school parent, are you looking for volunteer hours for your kid(s) close to home? Then mark April 19 on the calendar, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Read on more information from the organizers:
This spring, Revive Stanton Park and National Park Service/National Capital Parks East (NACE) are collaborating to spruce up Stanton Park. A NACE maintenance supervisor will be on site to oversee the work and provide equipment and supplies. If they wish, volunteers are welcome to bring their own gardening gloves and tools for digging out ivy roots.
- Volunteers aged 18 or older are required to complete a National Parks Service, National Capital Parks East (NACE) volunteer service sign-in form.
- For volunteers under age 18, a parent or guardian is required to fill out a volunteer service form on-site.
What’s in it for you? There are benefits to participating in this work day:
- Skill development and hands-on experience.
- Opportunity to support and contribute to the National Park Service as an official NPS volunteer
- Eligible for an America the Beautiful Volunteer Pass after accumulating 250 hours or more (unless already possessing an America the Beautiful Pass Senior, Assess, or Military Pass).
- Receive recognition items for hours of service.
- Potential training opportunities that develop knowledge and skills and enhance service.
If you are planning on going, the organizers would like an informal RSVP so leave us a comment down below if you plan on assisting.
