What is a landmark people may know your SMD from?
We are SE of Lincoln Park, including the park. Our district also includes the restaurant Pacci’s.
Why are you running for ANC?
I am running for ANC because I truly care about this neighborhood. I grew up here on Massachusetts Avenue between 13th and 14th. I played on the playgrounds at Lincoln Park and have walked to the metro more times than I can count. I think we have a beautiful neighborhood full of wonderful and kind people. I just want to help the neighborhood as it has always been willing to help me.
Why do you believe ANC is an important office?
ANC is an important office because Councilmembers cannot be everywhere. Your neighborhood commissioner is someone who can answer questions and someone who can bring your concerns to the right person. I can follow the trajectory of a complaint and make sure that it is always on someone’s radar, that way you don’t have to. When a sign falls down or the playground needs to be repaired, you can go to your ANC representative and trust that it will be handled.
Why should your neighbors vote for you?
I believe that you should vote for me because I promise to listen when you speak and make sure that your concerns make their way to the right people. I promise to be transparent about the process and be there to answer any questions that you have. As neighbors, I believe it is our duty to support each other through the good times and the bad. My priorities as Commissioner are to continue to highlight the amazing places about our neighborhood, to make our space safe and liveable for all, and to provide resources to help support further growth of our community.
Why should we all keep an eye on Advisory Neighborhood Commissions as a whole?
As I mentioned above, councilmembers cannot be everywhere and it is important that you have someone hyper-local that will stand up for you. It is important to keep an eye on ANC representatives because these are elected officials. They must be held to a level of accountability. These are the people that you will contact when a sign falls down, or when you notice an intersection is particularly dangerous. ANC may be small, but it’s impact in the community is big.
