- MPD Seeks a Suspect in a Burglary and Misdemeanor Sexual Abuse
The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect who entered an apartment without permission and sexually abused a woman.
On Friday, September 13, 2024, at approximately 11:25 p.m., the suspect gained entry into the victim’s apartment in the 800 block of New Jersey Avenue, Northwest. The suspect made unwanted sexual contact with the victim then fled the scene. The victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as an unknown race male with short hair. He is approximately 5’7” in height. He was last seen wearing a black hoody, and gray pants with white shoes.

- MPD Arrests Man for Armed Carjacking, Seeks Additional Suspect
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in an armed carjacking and seeks an additional suspect.
On Monday, September 9, 2024, at approximately 12:20 pm, the victim was carjacked of their scooter in the Unit block of Florida Avenue, Northwest. On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, an officer observed the stolen scooter being operated by a suspect in the 3100 block of 16th Street, Northwest. The suspect attempted to flee the scene. The officer apprehended the suspect and a handgun was recovered.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Paul Hawkins, of Northwest, DC, was arrested and charged with Armed Carjacking.

- MPD Searching for Suspects in Vehicle Theft Offenses

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a Theft from Auto and a Destruction of Property offense.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m., First District officers responded to the 1300 block of 5th Street, Northeast, for a Theft from Auto offense. The victim reported that he noticed that the lock on his work vehicle was missing. After checking inside of the vehicle, the victim observed multiple pieces of equipment had been taken. CCN 24140324.

On Thursday, September 12, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., First District officers responded to the 300 block of 9th Street, Southeast, for a Destruction of Property offense. The victim observed the rear door of his work vehicle had damaged by an unknown object. The suspect was unable to gain entry to the vehicle. CCN: 24140784.

- MPD Seeking Suspect in Northeast Attempted Armed Robbery

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for community’s help in identifying a suspect who attempted to rob an establishment in Northeast, DC.
On Friday, September 6, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the suspect approached the victim inside of an establishment in the 1100 block of H Street, Northeast. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded everything in the register. The victim did not comply and the suspect fled the location.

- MPD Arrests Teen After Social Media Post Threatening D.C. Schools
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a teenager for making threats directed at schools in the District on social media.
On Thursday, September 19, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., MPD was alerted to an Instagram post displaying images of weapons alongside a list of D.C. schools. In an abundance of caution, MPD increased police presence at schools throughout District.
On the morning of, September 20, 2024, as a result of the detectives’ investigation, a 15-year-old teenage male of Brandywine, MD was charged with Threats to Kidnap or Injure a Person.
The investigation revealed the teen found the image online and recirculated it with edited text identifying district schools. The teen was not in possession of the firearm.

- MPD Makes Arrests for Unlawful Entry, Search Continues for Two Assault on a Police Officer Suspects

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of one suspect and is asking for the community’s assistance in the search for two additional suspects in an aggravated assault on a police officer in Southeast.
On Sunday, September 22, 2024, at approximately 11:31 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of New Jersey Avenue, Southeast for the report of three males who unlawfully entered a parking garage. Upon seeing MPD officers, the three suspects attempted to flee. One of the suspects was quickly apprehended. The last two suspects, one armed with a knife and the other with a handgun, fled the scene on a stolen motorcycle, nearly striking a MPD officer.
The suspect that was apprehended, 49-year-old Tarik Kevel of Southeast, D.C. was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Entry, Resisting Arrest, and Fugitive from Justice.

- MPD Seeking Suspects and Vehicle in Theft (From Auto)

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating a suspects and vehicle involved in a theft (from auto) in Northeast.
On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the suspects exited a vehicle and approached a work van in the 800 block of 7th Street, Northeast. The suspects forcibly entered the van and took construction tools then fled the scene in a vehicle.
The suspects’ vehicle is a dark Infiniti sedan and was last seen bearing a Maryland Temporary Tag of T1956045.

- MPD Warns of Email Extortion Scam
The Metropolitan Police Department is warning the public of an email scam.
The scammers are emailing the victims stating that they have hacked their computers and gained access to all of their information, photos, and contacts. The scammer states that they have taken screenshots of alleged personal material and websites they have allegedly visited. The scammer then demands that if the victim does not pay the scammer in a predetermined amount of bitcoin, the scammer will release all of the illegally obtained material to their contacts and social media sites. The scammer will attach a photo of the victims’ homes, which we believe to have been found on Google Maps.
If you happen to receive unsolicited emails similar in nature:
Don’t feel pressured to act. Scammers may have some public information about you (like your name and address), but that does not mean they are legitimate.
Do not pay any amount of the predetermined bitcoin or click on any online links contained in the email.
