Hill Buzz

We still have over a week to go until we take a break, but if we’re all being honest with ourselves, November is seriously dragging. Yesterday, I had breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, lunch, snack and then dinner– and absolutely no excuse for eating that much. Better check what’s going on.

Speaking of snacks, Thrillist collated a list of free bar snacks. Yes, we love the free goldfish crackers at Hank’s, the cheeseballs at the pug and the chips and salsa(s) at Mission. But like, who doesn’t? Ugh. I’m hungry again.

This PoPVille scuttlebutt is well-timed: Maaaaaaaybe Shake Shack is coming to H Street NE. Honestly, the location doesn’t totally make sense unless the building where the Future of Sports used to be gets razed, but a girl can dream… of burgers.

She can also dream of pizza. On my to do list: to learn how to sign for pizza in ASL, so I can order at Mozzeria, an entirely deaf-owned and -run joint at The Baldwin, northeast corner of 13th and H Streets NE. Shaking hands. Commercial Observer

We will definitely miss Al’s Pizza, which appears to now be closed for good and its building up for sale. If whoever comes in and buys it decides to do outdoor seating, it’s going to be incredible. Loopnet

A recap of last week’s meeting with Hill East residents regarding the increase of low income housing is up over at Capitol Hill Corner. It’s hard to trust city officials when they don’t seem willing to meet residents halfway. (Sorry– this item just killed my appetite.)
