- MPD Seeking Suspect in Half Street Assault
The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying the suspect in an assault with a dangerous weapon (cane) that occurred in Southwest.
On Wednesday, September 17, 2026, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the suspect and the victim were involved in a verbal argument inside of a residence in the 1800 block of Half Street, Southwest. During the argument, the suspect assaulted the victim with a wooden cane and then fled the scene.

- MPD Seeks Suspect in Armed Robbery
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred in Southeast.
On Sunday, September 6, 2026, at approximately 8:15 a.m., the suspect approached the victim, who was a customer, inside of a store in the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. The suspect produced a handgun, took the victim’s property, and fled the scene.
The suspect was captured on a nearby surveillance camera and can be seen in this video and the above photos.
- MPD Seeking Two Suspects in A Street Armed Robbery
The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying two suspects who committed an armed robbery in Northeast.
On Monday, September 14, 2026, at approximately 10:41 a.m., the suspects approached the victim, as he sat in his vehicle, in the 1300 block of A Street, Northeast. One of the suspects brandished a firearm and ordered him to exit the vehicle. The suspects then rummaged through the vehicle, taking property, before fleeing on a green scooter.

- MPD Makes Arrest in New Jersey Avenue Homicide
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest in the homicide of an infant in Southeast.
On Sunday, August 16, 2026, at approximately 9:47 p.m., First District officers responded to the report of an unconscious infant at an apartment in the 800 block of New Jersey Avenue, Southeast. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive female infant suffering from blunt force injuries. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the infant to an area hospital where she later died.
On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for D.C. ruled the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and the manner of death to be homicide.
The infant has been identified as 2-month-old Khamyah Honesty, of Southeast, DC.
On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 40-year-old Demetrius Beatty, of no fixed address. Beatty has been charged with First-Degree Felony Murder and First-Degree Cruelty to Children.
Detectives quickly identified that the incident had domestic overtones. Detectives from the Special Victims Unit of MPD’s Homicide Branch continue to actively investigate Khamyah’s death in coordination with the United States Attorney’s Office.
