- MPD Investigating Fatal E-Bike Crash in Southeast
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating a single electric bicycle (e-bike) crash that resulted in the death of a man on South Capitol Street, Southeast.
The preliminary investigation revealed that on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at approximately 4:09 p.m., the operator of an e-bike was traveling northbound on the west sidewalk of the 2300 block of South Capitol Street, Southeast. The operator failed to negotiate the curve and veered right causing the operator to strike a curb. The operator was ejected off the e-bike and struck a metal trash can.
DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the operator unconscious and not breathing to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. Despite all life-saving efforts, the operator succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Jayquan Alexander Sweat of Riverdale, Maryland.
- Suspect Sought in K Street Shooting

The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the community’s assistance in locating a suspect in an assault with a dangerous weapon (gun) that occurred in Southwest.
On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at approximately 12:59 p.m., First District officers responded to the 300 block of Maple Drive, Southwest, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female, conscious and breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The on-scene investigation determined that the offense occurred in the 200 block of K Street, Southwest.
The suspect was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and can be seen in the photos attached.

- MPD Investigating Wisconsin Avenue Homicide and Officer-Involved Shooting
The Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Internal Affairs Bureau and Investigative Services Bureau are investigating a homicide that led to an officer-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday morning in the Northwest.
On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at approximately 7:11 a.m., Second District officers responded to the 3500 block of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene, after all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
Responding officers were advised that the suspect was last seen boarding a WMATA Metro bus. The officers stopped the bus near the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Upton Street, Northwest. The officers encountered the suspect on the bus. The suspect brandished a handgun, resulting in the officers discharging their service weapons. The suspect was fatally wounded. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene, after all lifesaving efforts failed, the suspect was pronounced dead. The preliminary investigation indicates this was a domestic related incident.
The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Melissa Wallace-Pulliam of Northwest, DC.

- MPD Investigating 21st Street Homicide
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in Northeast.
On Monday, June 15, 2026, at approximately 7:44 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to the 800 block of 21st Street, Northeast, for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim, inside of an apartment, who was unconscious and not breathing, suffering from apparent sharp force injury. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life and pronounced the victim dead.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Quinton Evans, of Northeast, DC.
