  • Suspect Sought in Maryland Avenue Burglary

The Metropolitan Police Department is searching for a suspect who stole property from a home in Northeast.

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the suspect gained access to an unoccupied home in the 700 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast. Once inside, the suspect stole jewelry and electronics. The suspect fled the scene.

The suspect was captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the photo at right:

  • Suspect Arrested for an Assault in Southeast

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in an assault in Southeast.

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at approximately 6:10 p.m., First District officers responded to Pennsylvania Avenue, and M Street, Southeast, in reference to an assault. The victim reported that the suspect threw a rock through a window in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. The victim then confronted the suspect, and the suspect struck the victim in the hands with a rock.

A short time later, 47-year-old Joseph Norris of Southeast, DC, was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Rock).

  • Arrest Made in E Street Homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest in a fatal shooting that occurred in Southeast.

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at approximately 2:05 a.m., First District officers responded to the 1800 block of E Street, Southeast, for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after all lifesaving efforts failed the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 50-year-old Lawrence Meekins, of Northwest, DC.

On Monday, September 22, 2025, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court booking order, members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fugitive Unit responded to D.C. Jail and arrested 40-year-old Ramone Richardson of Southeast, D.C. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed.
