- MPD Makes a Second Arrest in 21st Street Homicide
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a second suspect in connection to a fatal shooting in Northeast.
On Friday, May 2, 2025, at approximately 12:48 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to the 600 block of 21st Street, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, inside of an apartment, unconscious not breathing, suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 61-year-old Steven Stewart of Northeast, DC.
On Friday, August 22, 2025, members of the Metropolitan Police Departments Sixth District along with Homicide Detectives located and arrested 62-year-old Phillip Palmer of Northeast. Pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court Grand Jury indictment, Palmer was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Felony Murder).
On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, members of the United States Marshals Service located and arrested 42-year-old Randall Mack of Northeast. Pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court Grand Jury indictment, Mack was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Felony Murder) for his role in the death of 61-year-old Steven Stewart.
- MPD Makes Arrest in Union Station Homicide
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in a fatal shooting that occurred in February at Union Station.
On Monday, February 10, 2025, at approximately 4:37 p.m., First District officers and several law enforcement partners responded to Union Station, located at 50 Massachusetts Avenue, Northeast, after Amtrak Police heard gunshots near the bus waiting area. Officers located a male victim not conscious and not breathing, near the escalators to the parking garage, and immediately began rendering lifesaving efforts until DC Fire and EMS arrived on the scene. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The decedent has been identified as 18-year-old Wayne McDaniel, of Northwest, DC.
On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 23-year-old Faizon Mason of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed (Gun).
- MPD Arrests Suspect in Northeast Shooting
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in a shooting that occurred in Northeast.
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, at approximately 5:03 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to the Unit block of M Street, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound and an adult female suffering from a graze wound. DC Fire and EMS transported the adult male to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The female victim was treated on the scene by DC Fire and EMS.
On Friday, August 29, 2025, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 45-year-old Kevin Stanton of Southeast, D.C., was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun).
- MPD Makes Arrest after Weapon Found in School

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect following the discovery of a weapon at a school in Northwest.
On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at approximately 1:01 p.m., Second District officers responded to a charter school in the 1700 block of G Street, Northwest, for the report of a school staff member finding a student to have a firearm on school property. The school staff member took possession of the firearm prior to the suspect fleeing the scene and the arrival of officers.
The handgun was modified with an auto-sear switch. An auto sear switch is a device that converts a semi-automatic pistol into a machine pistol.
On Thursday, September 4, 2025, as a result of the detectives’ investigation and with the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, 19-year-old James Brewer of Southeast, DC, was arrested. Brewer was charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of a Certain Dangerous Weapons (Machine Gun), Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.
- Suspect Quickly Apprehended in Moped Carjacking
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a man in an unarmed carjacking in Northeast.
On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at approximately 9:44 p.m., an off-duty MPD member observed a suspect forcibly removing the operator of a moped in the 1000 block of Brentwood Road, Northeast. The suspect fled the scene using the victim’s moped.
The witnessing MPD member immediately shared information on the suspect’s direction of travel with Fifth District officers. Officers saturated the area and located the suspect in the 900 block of 17th Street, Northeast, where a traffic stop was initiated. The suspect was apprehended and the victim’s moped was recovered.
34-year-old Terel Rivers Antwoin, with no fixed address, was charged with Unarmed Carjacking, Reckless Driving, and No Permit. The investigation revealed Antwoin was wanted by Metro Transit Police pursuant to three DC Superior Court arrest warrants for Lewd, Indecent, or Obscene Acts. Antwoin was additionally charged with two counts of Fugitive from Justice for active arrest warrants from Prince George’s County, MD, and Alexandria, VA.
