- MPD Makes Arrest in Southeast Homicide
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in a homicide that occurred in Southeast.
On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at approximately 9:41 p.m., First District officers responded to the 1000 block of 3rd Place, Southeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male, unconscious, not breathing, and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 16-year-old Dominique Dingle, of Southeast, DC.
On Monday, August 11, 2025, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 17-year-old Leroy Dixon of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged, as an adult under Title 16, with Second Degree Murder While Armed (Gun).
- MPD Makes Arrest in Benning Road Shooting
The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest of a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred in Northeast.
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the suspect and the victim were involved in verbal altercation in the 2000 block of Benning Road, Northeast. During the altercation, the suspect brandished a handgun, shot the victim, and then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday, August 7, 2025, 31-year-old Brian Diggs, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Unregistered Firearm, and Unregistered Ammunition. At the time of arrest, Diggs was found to be in possession of a firearm.

- Suspect Sought in South Capitol Street Armed Robbery
The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred in Southeast.
On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at approximately 2:50 p.m., First District officers responded for a report of a robbery in the 700 block of South Capitol Street, Southeast. The suspect approached the victim, brandished a firearm and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene.

- MPD Arrests Northeast Burglary Suspect
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in a business burglary in Northeast.
On Monday, July 14, 2025, at approximately 12:33 a.m., the suspect entered an establishment in the 500 block of 3rd Street, Northeast. Once inside, the suspect took money from a safe and then fled the scene.
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, pursuant to DC Superior court arrest warrant, 24-year-old Larry Buckner, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Burglary Two.
The detectives’ investigation revealed that the suspect is a former employee of the business.
