The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest in a fatal shooting in Northeast.
On Monday, December 30, 2024, at approximately 3:49 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to the 1800 block of Benning Road, Northeast for the report of a shooting. Once on the scene, officers located an adult male, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene, and after finding no signs consistent with life, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 31-year-old Damion Hill of no fixed address.
On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 19-year-old Caleb Padilla of Northeast, D.C., was located, placed under arrest, and charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed.

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a second suspect in connection to burglary offenses that occurred in early December.
Multiple suspects targeted businesses in a burglary spree that occurred early on Monday, December 2, 2025. Previously, on Friday, February 21, 2025, 19-year-old Ryan Howell, of Northwest, was arrested and charged in connection to these 20 offenses. On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Taskforce located and arrested 19-year-old Stuart Scott, of Northwest. Scott was charged with the below offenses:

- MPD Makes Arrest in 2024 Gun Offense in Northeast
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a man who discharged a firearm in Northeast.
On Thursday, May 2, 2024, at approximately 1:52 p.m., a suspect discharged a handgun in the 900 block of F Street, Northeast, and fled the scene. Officers did not locate a victim or damaged property.
On Thursday, March 6, 2025, 34-year-old Joe Lewis Phoenix of Northwest, D.C., was stopped for a traffic violation. During the investigation, officers established probable cause connecting Phoenix to the 2024 shooting and placed him under arrest. As a result of the detectives’ investigation, Phoenix was charged with Endangerment with a Firearm and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.
