H Street has had a rough time lately. From elevated crime concerns to vacancies to bad press at a national level, to extreme competition from other, newer restaurant and nightlife hotspots such as the Wharf and Union Market District. But the one thing remains a constant on H Street and at the festival itself: There is a certain beautiful if chaotic spirit that inhabits what can only be called one of the most DC streets in DC. The joy, the spirit and a certain self-assured nonchalance permeate the festival, which has grown to encompass 3rd to 15th Streets NE. Here are a few favorite photos of today’s festivities by me– enjoy!
