  • Suspects Sought in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) Offense: 1500 Block of Benning Road, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District seek the public’s assistance in locating suspects in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, April 17, 2023, in the 1500 block of Benning Road, Northeast.
At approximately 2:27 am, the suspects brandished handgun and fired toward the victim at the listed location. The suspects then fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
The suspects were captured by surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos above.

  • Information Sought in an Armed Carjacking (Gun) Offense: 700 Block of 7th Street, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the public’s assistance with information pertaining to an Armed Carjacking (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, April 17, 2023, in the 700 block of 7th Street, Southeast.
At approximately 6:01 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the keys to the victim’s vehicle. The victim complied and one of the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The second suspect fled the scene in another vehicle. The victim’s pet cat was in the vehicle, inside of a red and cream-colored crate, when it was stolen.
The cat, who answers to “Milly” or “Mini”, is pictured at left and described as a 10-year-old domestic medium-haired cat, who is black and white in color.
The vehicles were captured by a nearby surveillance camera and can be seen in the photo at right. The victim’s vehicle is described as a 2020 red Toyota Highlander with Virginia tag UCZ6685.

The suspects’ vehicle is described as a 2016 silver Hyundai Sonata with Maryland tag 4EW6094.

  • Arrest Made in a Burglary Two of an Establishment Offense: 1100 Block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce an arrest has been made in reference to a Burglary Two of an Establishment offense that occurred on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast.
At approximately 12:25 am, the suspect gained entry into an establishment at the listed location. Once inside, the suspect took property. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers. CCN: 23-058-911
On Sunday, April 16, 2023, 27-year-old Michael Dunbar, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Burglary Two.
After further investigation, he was also charged in the below offenses that occurred at the same location:
Burglary Two on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. CCN: 23-051-965
Unlawful Entry on Wednesday, April 8, 2023. CCN: 23-054-383

  • DC Department of Corrections Escapee Arrested

The Metropolitan Police Department announces a suspect wanted for escape has been arrested.
22-year-old Kenneth Phillips was apprehended on Monday, April 17, 2023, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, after he escaped from DC Department of Corrections custody on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
The Metropolitan Police Department would like to thank the United States Marshals Service for their assistance in this case as well as the public for their tips.

  • Arrest Made in an Armed Carjacking (Gun) Offense: 700 Block of A Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Armed Carjacking (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, April 17, 2023, in the 700 block of A Street, Northeast.
At approximately 4:00 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s vehicle. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The suspects were later apprehended.
On Monday, April 17, 2023, 20-year-old Dayshawn Nolan, and a 15-year-old juvenile male, both of Southeast, DC, were arrested and charged with Armed Carjacking (Gun).
