  • Homicide: 1200 Block of H Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, February 19, 2023, in the 1200 block of H Street, Northeast.
At approximately 11:09 pm, First District officers responded to the listed location for the report of disorderly subjects. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, the victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 32-year-old Kenithy Manns, of Lorton, Virginia.

  • Suspects Sought in Burglary Two of an Establishment Offenses in the First and Seventh Districts

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating suspects in Burglary Two of an Establishment offenses that occurred on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
In each of the below Burglary Two offenses, the suspects gained entry into an establishment. Once inside, the suspects took property and fled the scene.
At approximately 4:35 am, in the 3000 block of Naylor Road, Southeast. CCN: 23-026-652
At approximately 12:04 am, in the 1400 block of Pennsylvania, Avenue, Southeast CCN: 23-026-562
The suspects were captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the photos above.

  • Homicide: 1500 Block of First Street, Southwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, February 25, 2023, in the 1500 block of First Street, Southwest.

At approximately 8:44 pm, First District officers responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. 

The decedent has been identified as 30-year-old Kevin Sharp, of Southeast, DC.

  • Arrests Made in Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Theft One (Stolen Auto) Offenses

The Metropolitan Police Department announces arrests in recent Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Theft One (Stolen Auto) offenses in Washington, DC.

-Friday, February 17, 2023, 45-year-old Charles Walker, of Suitland, MD, was arrested for an Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle offense that occurred in the 1500 block of Benning Road, Northeast. CCN: 23-026-256

-Wednesday, February 22, 2023, 39-year-old Cornelius Ruffin Jr, of Northeast, DC, was arrested for an Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle offense that occurred in the 1200 block of Florida Avenue, Northeast. CCN: 23-029-143 and 23-year-old Clarence Green, of Southeast, DC, was arrested for an Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle offense that occurred in the 100 block of Potomac Avenue, Southwest. CCN: 23-029-146

  • MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: Monday, February 13, 2023 to Monday, February 20, 2023

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to investigate and recover illegal firearms in Washington D.C. through intelligence-based policing to identify, interdict, and interrupt armed violent offenders within the District. In addition to our patrol officers, members from several of MPD’s specialized units work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off our streets. From Monday, February 13, 2023, through Monday, February 20, 2023, MPD detectives and officers recovered 40 firearms in the District of Columbia.
Among the firearms recovered were:

-Wednesday, February 15, 2023, A .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun was recovered in the 500 block of H Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Kiajual Dunlap, of District Heights, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 23-025-319

-Saturday, February 18, 2023, A Glock 21 .45 caliber handgun, a Smith & Wesson SD9VE 9mm caliber handgun, and a 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (all pictured below) were recovered in the 1500 block of Benning Road, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northeast, D.C., 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northwest, D.C., 16-year-old male juvenile, of Northeast, D.C., and 16-year-old male juvenile, of Suitland, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Consumption of Marijuana in Public Space Prohibited, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 23-026-923
