The Capitol Hill pumpkin walk is a yearly competition for the best front garden literary-themed Hallowe’en display. Some places went all-out – unsurprisingly, this included Walter Street, who went with a Harry Potter theme. Each front garden presented a different aspect of the books. Here, we have Harry himself, wearing a Pumpkinspice House tie. Or that’s how we interpreted it (RSP)
Another Walter Street house became Track 9 1/2, ready to take you off to Hogwarts. Our photographer would have been happy to spend the rest of their time on this street, but we told him to keep moving. (RSP)
So on we went to Mr. McGregor’s garden, with Peter Rabbit’s little blue jacket staked out to scare off further bunnies from eating all the wonderful plants within (RSP)
Unsurprisingly, a number of the displays were quite timely – and thus dark. Here’s a display dedicated to Albert Camus’s The Plague. (RSP)
On a very different note, here’s the display for Dragons Love Tacos, a book we were not aware of, and were quite pleased that a copy had been left outside for our edification. (RSP)
And yet another timely display: The Handmaid’s Tale. If you want to go see these for yourself, the map (and instructions for voting) can be found here. (RSP)
