Enjoy the waterfront at Friday Night Fishing with the Anacostia Riverkeeper

Hope you survived the Monday Monsoon without too much drama.

Speaking of drama…

The Capitol Fringe Festival has taken over Southwest and performances are happening all over. Pick your outings based on time, day, genre and location. There are comedies, musicals, dramas, dance pieces and even some family friendly offerings. Start planning here.

Tonight night you can go to the weekly free concert at Yards Park, this week featuring Jah Works. If you are feeling like you might want to be a little more active try a little Friday Night Fishing with the Anacostia Riverkeeper and the Earth Conservation Corps. All ages are welcome to join and try their hand. All gear is provided and staff is on hand to help with questions. The fun is happening at Diamond Teague Park between 5pm and 8pm.

Capitol Hill Arts Workshop hosts Write and Sip 6:30 – 8:0pm.  Author Nancy Arbuthnot will conduct a series of short writing exercises to hone writing skills and jump-start memories you want to share. Snacks and beverages and writing materials provided. The workshop is $30 and you will need to call (202) 547-6839 to register.

Saturday is the monthly Used Book Sale at the Southeast Library. The sale goes from about 9:45 ish to 3ish. If you want to donate you may but follow the instructions http://www.foseldc.org/how-to-donate-books.

Sundays are nice for strolling so go over to to Congressional Cemetery and learn about the historical resting place. Each weekend volunteer docents share tidbits of history. Come dressed to walk and be aware that off leash dogs are part of the fun.
