Volunteering & Giving:

Celebrate neighborhood arts! Help CHAW with their goal!

We all love arts and artists and want to encourage our kids and our inner kids to explore their artistic side. For many of us, the safe and happy place in our community to explore that side of ourselves for over 40 years has been the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, CHAW. I know that, were it not for CHAW, I wouldn’t have discovered my love for photography– and I’m betting many of you have discovered things that have brought you immense joy there. It’s time to give back! CHAW is raising $70,000 in 70 days for tuition assistance, so that everyone can have the joy of the arts in their lives, no matter what their income or their family’s income is. You see, in addition to helping children from lower income families, CHAW also provides outreach for different non-profit groups.

Are you ready to donate? Here are three few ways you can help and become highly #CHAWsome in the process:

  • Go to www.givecampus.com/fdavrn and give a little or give a lot! You can also mail a check to CHAW, 545 7th Street, SE, Washington, DC 20003
  • Dine out at the Ugly Mug, 723 8th Street SE, every Thursday in June! The restaurant will donate a percentage of the night’s sales to help the Paint Bucket Campaign for Tuition Assistance.
  • Finally, share this post with your social media circle! Many locals are not aware of the kind of treasure we have here on the Hill– they need to know!
