If you’re looking for a lovely way to celebrate Valentine’s day early, two local churches are offering wonderful opportunities to have a great time and to support the community. Both are happening on Saturday, February 9. If you’re into it, you could even try to make it to both events:

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church:

All are invited to this benefit Concert and Reception performed by The Second Strings Ensemble under the direction of Matthew Maffett. Second Strings generously donated this performance to support Good Neighbors Capitol Hill’s interfaith work resettling Afghan refugees.

Tax-deductible donations fully support refugee emergency assistance and special equipment needs for families to whom GNCH volunteers provide tutorial and employment mentoring.

The suggested donation of $20 per person or $30 per family may be made in advance online to goodneighborscapitolhill.org. Click here to buy.

Click on Donate linking to Lutheran Church of the Reformation. Fill in the amount box next to “Refugee Resettlement” and indicate “Concert” on the memo line. All donations accepted at the door. Questions: Lisa Nickerson (202.546.4668) or gnch-info@googlegroups.com
