From all of us here at The Hill is Home, we hope you had a wonderful and decadent Thanksgiving. A holiday that asks for nothing but your culinary best and your gratitude is possibly the best kind of holiday.

Did you read my post about Big George’s lighting ceremony? If you’re feeling generous on #GivingTuesday, consider giving to Ready, Willing and Working. The Hill is Home

This is the kind of sorrow no parent should have to experience, and yet it’s become entirely too common in our area: A recent Eastern High School Valedictorian was killed off Benning Road yesterday. Frozen Tropics and  WJLA

Larry has a recap of last week’s Hill East Task Force meeting. The meeting discussed next steps around DC General and focused on issues around the construction areas. It’s worth mentioning that ANC 6B10 commissioner Denise Krepp tried repeatedly to have a representative from DMPED show up to this meeting, but was notified at 5:45 a.m. the day of the meeting that no representatives would attend. Via the DC Line, if you’re planning on donating to non-profits today, check out this year’s local Catalogue for Philanthropy. The Catalogue looks at non-profits of all sizes, which evens out the playing field when it comes to large marketing budgets. The Catalogue also has a per-ward index that is useful if you want to keep your giving hyperlocal.

Valor Brewpub held a viewing party over the holiday weekend, but you can catch the action and scenes from the viewing party on Food Network. (Now all we need is some “Almost beat Bobby Flay” Bangkok chicken.)

Came across this tweet earlier and it shocked me. While Events DC does bring world-class entertainment to the city and has done a good job of branding the District as an entertainment destination, the tweet has a big point. The article from Washington Business Journal underscores it.
