The Hill is Home is sharing the statements of ANC candidates in our general region. Although the main focus of our blog is Capitol Hill –served by ANCs 6A through 6C– we feel that a community is made stronger by the neighbors with whom we share a close geographical area. We are honored to share candidate statements from neighbors from Ivy City to Navy Yard, with minor style edits. To all of you who are running: Thank you. –Maria Helena Carey and Kate McFadden
I am Christine Healey and am running for a second term as the 6C01 commissioner. I have been the commissioner for ANC 6C01 since January 2017. From 2014 to 2016, I served as a citizen member of two ANC 6C committees, including two years as the citizen chair of the ANC 6C Parks and Events Committee.
If re-elected, I will continue to be a strong advocate for residents of ANC 6C01, whether that involves improving the conditions of the alleys, parking enforcement, trash pickup, or anything else involving city services. I will continue to encourage residents and businesses within the Single Member District to be in touch with me with their questions and concerns and I will work closely with them to ensure their views are heard by District officials. I will also work to keep residents informed of developments within the ANC 6C area.
My husband, Ryan Brown, and I have lived in our house on Capitol Hill for over 25 years. We raised our sons, Nate and Gabe Brown, here on the Hill and have been part of many Hill organizations over the years. A graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, I had a long career as a congressional counsel and staffer.
Among the issues I will continue to pursue if re-elected are the following: 1) road safety, particularly for pedestrians and bicyclists; 2) enforcement of construction permits and zoning regulations; and 3) additional enhancement of our common spaces such as pocket parks and alleys.
