We had almost a month of no rain, but now it hasn’t really stopped deluging. How are you holding up, Capitol Hill and environs? Hope your basements aren’t getting flooded because what a nightmare that is.

Ok. Let’s catch up, shall we?

After welcoming Sephora with open arms/wallets a couple of weeks ago (don’t judge me), looks like we’ll soon be saying hello to a Samsung Experience store at 700 Pennsylvania Avenue SE. Expect to see the store opening officially in the fall of this year. It’s going to be HUGE, too: it will occupy “28,512 square-feet of space.” That is A LOT of experience. Samsung US press release

(Aside– what are we *really* calling this? The Hine development? The Shops at Eastern Market? 700 Penn? The den of iniquity? Mini-Georgetown?)

What’s more exciting than an experience store? A store where your community is well and thoughtfully represented. The Starbucks on H Street NE (625 H Street NE, inside the Anthology development) will be a pioneer in inclusivity when it reopens in October as the first Starbucks in the United States with a staff fully fluent in American Sign Language. If you’re feeling down, take a second to watch this tweet and tell me if we’re not a part of a greater, more perfect union… sometimes. Eater DC

Want to feel a little sad, nostalgic, maybe excited and possibly even confused? Bisnow compiled Google street view images of several neighborhoods and how they’ve changed. You shall be SHOOK. Bisnow

Between the moon and the spirally kinetic sculpture (scroll to the bottom), there is much to see around Navy Yard. Not that you needed me to point that one out, but you never know: People are still surprised by the CHAW animals. Curbed

More crime in our ward– this time in front of a recreation center. Sigh. NBC4

Any day that features Eastern Market (and a crab cake!) is truly a perfect day. Another installment of the Washington Post’s “Perfect Day” series. Washington Post

This terrifying sheet of water tore through Capitol South last week, which just begs the question, “HOW CAN THIS BE FIXED AND IS IT STILL HAPPENING?!” WTOP

Disturbing allegations about improper behavior by one of the staff at Aqua al 2 highlight the even more disturbing way in which the complaints and the behavior were handled. Was the employee fired? Nope– he still works for Mindful Restaurants. Very disappointing news. Washington Post (subscription)
