On The Hill:

The West Virginia power pop jams of Rozwell Kid are headed right to DC this spring! Their gritty and exciting songs are filled to the brim with nostalgia, personal memories, and universal truths. The band is currently on tour in support of their most recent album, Precious Art. Rozwell Kid’s whimsy, yet serious, songs are perfect for fans of Weezer, who has been cited as having a large influence on the band. Catch Rozwell Kid on June 1 at the Rock & Roll Hotel. Brick + Mortar and The Unlikely Candidates bring you a co-headliner show filled to the brim with indie rock for the masses. Hailing from New Jersey, the duo known as Brick + Mortar brings a strong and satisfying sound with an untraditional take on electronica mixed with indie rock. The Unlikely Candidates’ music is reminiscent of the anthemic songs of Fall Out Boy’s early career. The deluxe edition of their EP Danger To Myself is out now. This Saturday, the Congressional Chorus and the Youth American Chorus present Sun, Moon, & Stars: Songs of the Galaxies. This ethereal concert features music from modern composers reflecting on the mystery, grandeur, and incredible expanse of our skies. Music from David Child, Jacob Narverud, Dan Forrest, and more will be highlighted. Don’t miss this spectacular event at 7:30 pm on June 2 at the National City Christian Church. The DC Jazz Festival is back once again to present acclaimed and emerging jazz artists to audiences of all ages. Since 2005, this non-profit organization’s annual event has highlighted DC as a major jazz center and provided diverse music experiences for the audience. The festival features more than 125 performances from 300 artists in over 40 local venues. Performances will be held at The Wharf, the Kennedy Center, City Winery, and more. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the four-piece known as Horse Feathers is headed east. The band’s career spans six albums in over a decade. Their latest album, Appreciation, takes their indie folk, soul, and rock roots to a new level. Stunning vocals, gorgeous string arrangements, and stark lyrics have captured the attention of their ever-growing and passionate fan base. Cold Fronts, a four-piece Philadelphia-based garage pop was discovered only after playing an impromptu show on the streets of Austin, Texas during 2012’s South By Southwest. The band’s songs are raw, catchy, and sincere. The band is on tour in support of their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Fantasy Du Jour, released this past April.
