Capitol Hill is a book lover’s dream. The neighborhood is home both to the Folger Shakespeare Library and to the Library of Congress.

The Folger Shakespeare Library holds the world’s largest Shakespeare collection. The Folger features special exhibitions, lectures, and plays in the Elizabethan Theatre, as well as an annual festival celebrating Shakespeare’s Birthday.

The Library of Congress, the largest library in the world, features events such as readings, movies, concerts, and exhibits in its three buildings. If you wish to have access to the library’s collection, you must register and obtain a reader card. Instructions on how to register can be found by clicking here.

In Ward 6, there are also five DC Public Libraries. Visit the DC Public Library website for hours and events for each branch, or call the branch directly.
