The Set List: May 3-17

Over the next few weeks, DC venues are bringing in a variety of music styles –from indie rock, to metalcore, and even some Latin jams– so there is something for everyone. Also, summer tours are being announced left and right, so be sure to pick up tickets to see all of your favorite artists as they hit the east coast!

On The Hill:

Some Canadian rock is just what everyone needs on a Sunday night to get ready for the week, and Bleeker has you covered. If you like The Black Keys and other alt rockers, you will love Bleeker. Their latest album, Erase You, combines incredible guitar riffs and energizing vocals to create their own unique sound. These guys are just getting started on the successful career that lies ahead of them. Bleeker will perform at the Rock & Roll Hotel on May 7. Get your tickets now.

Around DC:

For fans of something a little heavier than the normal pop and alternative that comes through DC, check out Volumes. With their dual vocalists, driving guitar riffs, breakdowns, and a nü-metal influence, both of their full-length albums hit number one on the iTunes Rock and Metals charts upon their releases. Their newest album, Different Animals, will be available June 9. Volumes will be playing at Songbyrd on May 8. Pick up your tickets here.

If you happen to be in the mood for some earworm, look no further than Run River North’s headlining show at U Street Music Hall. RRN is a group of indie rockers that has steadily been pushing forward on their uphill climb in the ever-changing music world. Luckily for Run River North, the effort has not been for nothing. Securing performances alongside Mumford & Sons and The Head and the Heart, as well as on Late Night With Seth Myers, is just the beginning for RRN. Catch their incredibly contagious music on May 9. Get your tickets now.

The 9:30 Club is slowing things down a bit for their audience on May 10. San Fermin brings a different style of pop to the table that is unlike the normal indie-pop that plays on the radio. The amazing, smooth voice of classically trained Ellis Ludwig-Leone, as well as the light and airy vocals of Charlene Kaye, will pull you in and the incredible percussion and string sections will keep your attention the whole show. They are currently touring in support of their most recent release, Belong. Pick up your tickets here.

Wavves is one of those bands that you can’t really stick into one genre, but they have found their niche with a unique blend of pop and punk. This show at U Street on May 13 comes just as Wavves wraps up their tour with Blink-182, which is a huge accomplishment in itself. This band screams summer vibes, so you will definitely want to add their upcoming album, You’re Welcome, to your playlist soon. Buy your tickets now.

If a mix of disco, jazz, funk, and Latin beats sounds like your kind of show, don’t miss Los Amigos Invisibles. This Venezuelan band has already made its mark in the music world with multiple critically acclaimed albums and a reputation for incredible, energetic live shows that you won’t forget. They can also boast tours in over 60 countries, many festival sets, and even multiple Grammy nominations. You can experience Los Amigos Invisibles on May 14 at the 9:30 Club. Buy your tickets here.

Also, if you by some miracle got tickets for the Pixies at The Lincoln Theatre on Friday, May 16 or Saturday, May 17, you are in for a fantastic show!
