On The Hill:

If you like The 1975, head over to the Rock and Roll Hotel on March 24 to see London-based artist The Japanese House. The Japanese House, also known as Amber Bain, has received rave reviews for her three EPs and is not stopping there. She is embarking on her U.S. and European headlining tour in support of her newest release. Get your tickets now.

If you happen to be in the mood for a punk rock show, see if you can scrounge up tickets for a great show featuring 5 different bands at the Rock and Roll Hotel on March 31. The show is unfortunately sold out, but you might be able to find tickets somewhere. The bands for the night include headliners Four Year Strong, who has had a strong career so far playing shows around the world. Also featured is local band In Your Memory.

Around DC:

Sofi Tukker is far from a normal New-York based duo. Their “jungle pop,” as it has been called, is filled with enticing Latin beats, electric guitars, and deep bass lines. The duo’s song “Drinkee” catapulted them into the spotlight. It was nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Recording, featured in an Apple commercial, and is also entirely in Portuguese. With this success as momentum, it’s clear that the minds behind Sofi Tukker have no intention of slowing down anytime soon. Don’t miss the opportunity to see them at U Street Music Hall on March 24. Get your tickets now.

After 5 years, west coast born Minus the Bear is back with their newest album VOIDS. This indie rock/pop band has established themselves with their mix of multiple genres and influences into a flowing, up-tempo, layered style. The beat is contagious and the voice enthralling. Don’t miss Minus the Bear at Black Cat on March 24. Get your tickets here.

Leeds-based alternative group, Living Body, is defying genre boundaries one song at a time. Light, yet meaningful and powerful vocals blend seamlessly with beautiful instrumentals to make every song unique. From so-called “post-rock,” to cinematic orchestra sections, Living Body covers everything. Their new album, Body Is Working, is truly a work of art. Check them out at Black Cat on March 26. Buy your tickets now.

Hippo Campus is the epitome of a young indie band finding their sound and making a name for themselves. After two EPs that put them on the map, Hippo Campus released their debut full-length album last month, which cemented them as the new up and coming band that you need to know. Their colorful, energetic, guitar driven music is filled with upbeat melodies that are sure to keep you on your feet and your summer playlist exciting. Hippo Campus will perform at Black Cat on March 29. Get your tickets here.
