Remember when the Virginia Avenue Park wasn’t just a place to park heavy machinery, and when butter beans and tomatoes grew and dogs frolicked? We do. Check out posts here, here, and here from the past and the way-past regarding the tiny parcel of land south of 395/695 and bordered by 9th, 11th and L Streets, and Virginia Avenue.
If you’d like to have a say in how the park is designed… in 2018, after CSX is done building the tunnel, then you need to attend a meeting TOMORROW, Saturday, February 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Community Center at Capitol Quarter, 1000 5th Street SE (between K & L Streets SE). At this meeting, you will have a chance to talk to Lisa DelPlace. DelPlace works for landscape architects Oehme Van Sweden. If you have any questions about the future of the project, you can contact Kirsten Oldenburg through her website, http://www.kirsten6b.org.
