Remember when &pizza was just H&pizza and it was quirky and lovable and…. well, really, really local, because there was just the one shop on H Street? The local chain/awesome cult/generous/really aware of food allergies local chain is all grown up now, and they are opening their 10th shop in DC proper and 18th shop overall (eighteen?!) TODAY on Barracks Row.

Starting at 11 a.m., if you are one of the first 118 patrons to see the newest digs at 405 8th Street SE, you get a free pizza! And if you’re thinking the charity stops for the early birds, you would be wrong: During opening weekend –from Friday, October 21 through Sunday, October 23– every pizza you buy is matched through &CHARITY, the charitable arm of &pizza, and you can decide whether it gets donated to Capitol Hill Arts Workshop or to Ready, Willing & Working.

Looking forward to re-welcoming you to the neighborhood, &pizza! Many a happy afternoon (and at least a couple of kid birthday parties and one memorably late boozy evening) has been spent eating your deliciously thin crusts and pizzas bursting with flavor and with all manner of toppings. We are happy you’ve thrived in an industry where so many others fail, and that you continue to be a great neighbor, with a strong commitment to making life better for many.

Hear, hear!
