We have offered to post brief statements from all of the ANC candidates running for seats on Capitol Hill and the surrounding neighborhoods that we cover here on The Hill is Home. These statements are not endorsements and have been posted exactly as submitted by the candidates.
I am Christine Healey and am running to be the 6C01 commissioner. My husband, Ryan Brown, and I have lived in our house on Capitol Hill for over 23 years. We raised our sons, Nate and Gabe Brown, on the Hill and have been happily part of many wonderful Hill organizations over the years. A graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, I had a career as a congressional counsel and staffer. Since 2014, I have served as a citizen member of two ANC 6C committees. I have been the citizen chair of the ANC 6C Parks and Events Committee since February 2015.
If elected, I will encourage residents and businesses within the Single Member District to be in touch with me with their questions and concerns and I will work closely with them on the issues facing our neighborhood and our city. Whether the issue is one of services or regulations, residents can expect me to be strong advocate on their behalf with city and federal officials. This advocacy will extend not just to ANC 6C meetings, but to interaction with city and federal officials directly and at their hearings and community meetings. I will work to keep residents informed of developments within the ANC 6C area.
Among the issues I will pursue if elected are: 1) road safety, particularly for pedestrians and bicyclists; 2) enforcement of construction permits and zoning regulations; and 3) adding and enhancing parks and playing fields within the ANC 6C area, and nearby, to provide more outdoor recreational opportunities for all ages.
