One of the many signs of spring: road closures for the spring race season. This Saturday March 12, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon will have our neighborhood well sectioned off. If you need to get anywhere that day, prepare for delays and take note of the streets and access points that you will need to use to get to and from the Hill.

The following Capitol Hill area road closures will be in effect between approximately 7:30am- 12:00pm:*
- E. Capitol St NE closed from 22nd St NE to 19th ST NE and from 11th St SE to 2nd St NE
- Pennsylvania Ave SE (westbound) closed from 4th St SE to 2nd St SE
- Independence Ave (eastbound) closed from 2nd St SE to3rd St SE
- 3rd St SE closed from E. Capitol St SE to E St SE
The following major roads in the Capitol Hill area will be open during the race:*
- Hopscotch Bridge/3rd Street Tunnel/395
- Massachusetts Ave NE (west of 10th St NE)
- Independence Ave (west of 2nd St SE and east of 3rd St SE)
- Pennsylvania Ave SE (east of 4th St SE)
- Constitution Ave (west of13th St NE)
- Southwest/Southeast Freeway/695
Race day access information for the Capitol Hill area:*
- To cross E. Capitol Street during the race use official MPD metering points on E. Capitol at 4th,6th, 8th, and 10th Streets
- To access Southwest/Southeast Freeway (695) use 8th, 6th, or 4th Streets SE
- To exit areas north of E Capitol Street, use the 3rd St/395 Tunnel
*Times are approximate and subject to change. Roads reopen as last participant passes and course materials are removed. Officers will direct traffic across the course between runners at designated meter points. Expect delays at peak runner times.
