Hey everyone! If it’s March and the NCAA Basketball Tournament is in the event horizon, it can only mean one thing: We will be pitting Capitol Hill bars against each other and declaring a winner! BAR MADNESS IS BACK! The little bar battle that could is back and, quite literally, bigger than ever! This year, to be as fair as possible and as an added challenge to ourselves, we decided to try and include pretty much any* establishment in the Capitol Hill area and environs that serves alcohol. Amazingly, we came up with 128 contenders –a veritable smorgasbord of cuisines, styles, and locales– which we divided into TWO brackets. The winners of each bracket will then play each other in the final.
Our timeline is as follows:
Round 1 (64×2): The Great American Smorgasbord Today, March 15 through Sunday March 20, 11:55 p.m.
Round 2 (32×2): Round Deux March 22-24
Round 3 (16×2): Tasting Sweet Sixteens March 25-27
Round 4 (8×2): Eights Straight Up March 29-31
Round 5 (4×2): The Foamy Fours April 1-3
Round 6 (2×2): The Almost Final Foam Down April 4-6
Final Round (Winner of A vs. B against the Winner of C vs D): THE FINAL FOAM DOWN April 7-April 10!
This year, we are trying out voting through Constant Contact, so every vote will be easy to find in forms. You are asked to cast a vote for each of the brackets, but you do not have to register. Do it for all the bars who bring so much fun, camaraderie and food to our lives. Do it so we can find who will be in the company of our past winners: The Pug (2013), Beuchert’s Saloon (2014) and Little Miss Whiskey’s Golden Dollar (2015).
Without further ado: VOTE EARLY and MAY THE MOST BELOVED BAR WIN! Now, to the smorgasbord!

* Okay. Almost any. We really tried SO HARD to fit in everybody that our eyes were starting to cross. A couple of times we even panicked wildly that we were missing someone. But as with any human endeavor, we are sure we made mistakes and for that, we are sorry. At least this is not the year where we forgot to include the winner in the bracket– remember that? THAT was embarrassing.
