Here are The Hill is Home, we love our DC-themed items– a lot. For instance, one of our holiday posts was geared specifically toward DC-themed gifts, of which there is a surprising amount! Might we add, it’s always a good time to have good presents on hand, and cool presents are always more fun to give than not-cool presents. (That last sentence probably made my senior AP English teacher weep.) So when we were approached by Andy Thompson of D.C. Outside regarding their beautiful Art Deco-inspired posters, we were more than a little intrigued.

D.C. Outside has beautiful prints of three iconic DC sites: Rock Creek Park, the Key Bridge and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath. The fourth poster is also iconic, but highlights the majesty of Great Falls, just a wee father upriver. The best part of these prints is that, apart from being tasteful and an updated throwback to a cooler era design-wise, part of each sale benefits the Potomac Conservancy, a local non-profit that fights for a clean river and a connected community. That’s what I call a win-win.

When I asked Andy if there were plans to add a poster of the beautiful Anacostia River (“Now with Not as Much Trash!”), he directed me instead to another website that he and business partner, Ryan Abrahamsen, have put together, Terrain 360, where you can see walking trails of the Anacostia River watershed so you can explore the beauty of our local river pretty much all the way to the source.

D.C. Outside hopes to be selling these prints in local store soon, but until then, you can purchase your own on the website.
