H Street Runners is joining hands with a number of other partners and runners from all across the globe to complete a 5k to help raise awareness and much needed funds for Syrian refugee relief. Gather this Thursday, December 10, to help with Syrian refugee relief efforts. The run will be followed by a happy hour at a venue TBD near the Capitol.
This special 5K event is part of a global effort—the 5k4RefugeesInternational Virtual 5K—an innovative and collaborative initiative to raise funds for CARE International’s ongoing work to aid Syrian refugees. Runners from around the globe, in dozens of major cities (and everyplace in between), have already run hundreds of 5Ks and raised thousands of dollars to benefit CARE’s efforts to help ameliorate the Syrian refugee crisis.
H Street Runners decided to host a run here in DC to encourage the local running community to come out and join them in support of this worthy cause. Folks interested in participating should plan to meet near the Capitol Reflecting Pool by 6:30 pm for an easy 5K run along the Mall.
Starting/Gathering Point is 3rd Street NW, between Constitution Avenue NW and Independence Avenue SW. Meet on the lawn area in front of the Capitol Reflecting Pool. They will run in small groups on a route along the National Mall, retuning to 3rd Street.
