DC:

Worst Storm Since 2012 Derecho Does Damage to Capitol Hill

Although many of you slept right through it, the storm that hit our area last night was the worst since the 2012 Derecho hit the region, according to the Washington Post. A Derecho storm covers a much wider swath of land than this storm did, but the effects were felt widely in the area. Alert DC –the District’s citywide emergency service– reported standing water blocking parts of South Capitol Street in Ward 8. Around our neighborhood, many neighbors awoke to find their car bashed in by a tree limb. The city’s agencies, led by 311gov, cleaned up the debris in a very expedient manner.

A big thank you to those of you who tweeted alerts and shared your photos with us. And definitely, our condolences go out to those of you who endured property damage during the storm. Hope things get fixed quickly for you all!
