Get FREE Ice Cream from Ice Cream Jubilee with Postmates

free ice creamWhile scanning Instagram while walking the dog last night, a post from Ice Cream Jubilee caught my attention. “We’re celebrating #NationalIceCreamDay with @postmates! Today thru Sunday order one of 4 free flavors via link in profile…while supplies last! Just cover delivery fee & the rest is on us. We’re offering Cookies & Cookie Dough, Snickers Snickerdoodle, Strawberry White Chocolate, and Gin & Tonic (vegan sorbet). Which one will you choose?!”

FREE ice cream? What’s the catch? And what is Postmates? I was curious and hungry (I really need to learn to stay off of Instagram before dinnertime), so I took the bait. And about 20 minutes later a delivery man was at my door with a pint of one of my favorite flavors of ice cream from Ice Cream Jubilee: Cookies and Cookie Dough. Sure, I could have just walked to their store, burning a few more calories, but then I wouldn’t have learned about Postmates. But I’ll get to that in a minute.

First, yes, the free pint deal is real and it’s awesome. Just sign onto Postmates and select the flavor you want out of the four options –Cookies & Cookie Dough, Snickers Snickerdoodle, Strawberry White Chocolate, or Gin & Tonic (vegan sorbet). Delivery fees apply, but first-time Postmates users can try the code “jubileedc” or “eyyz” for $10 delivery credit. And you can tip the delivery driver through the app, so no need for cash.

Postmates_logoNow, about this Postmates delivery service. I wish I had known about this service when I was stuck at home with a broken ankle!

The list of Capitol Hill restaurants that they deliver from is fantastic. Just enter in your address to see the list and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Say you’re a new parent, unable to run out for lunch or dinner because of a sleeping baby. Or you want something other than pizza delivered for the babysitter. Or you’re stuck at home waiting for a repairman who is running late. Or you’re stuck on the couch with a broken ankle for several weeks like I was. There are lots of times when this can come in very handy and be completely worth the delivery fee.

The service is also available in Arlington and Virginia, and in select cities in 17 states. Yes, you can even use it to send a friend in one of those cities a delivery order from one of their favorite restaurants.

What restaurants would you want them to add to their list?
