Wow! Just wow!

Ok, amazed interruption completed, action item assigned: go now to the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in Northeast. They’re not on the Hill but close enough and included a number of times in our THIH Flickr group, so at least a few of our neighbors proudly claim it as ‘neighboring.’ We just missed the park’s annual Water Lily and Lotus Festival. But according to the Friends of the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens the blooms last until mid August. They give this advice: “The tropical lilies, whose roots are more deliciate, only bloom from mid-June through early October, but peak in July and August. Lastly, the expansive Victoria water lily blooms for a brief period in August. Be sure to visit on cool days or early in the morning as most of the blooms will close in the mid-day heat.”

The park also features over 40 species of birds, including ospreys, herons, and bald eagles, not to mention turtles, dragonflies, butterflies and snakes.  Be sure to bring your binoculars and prepare for muddy trails — and watch out for poison ivy.

Enjoy!
