The Friendliest Auction in Town – SWS’s Jazz Gala &Auction

By Caroline Kazmierski, an SWS parent.
If this adorable video of School-Within-School (SWS) students doesn’t pique your interest or downright convince you of attending the 17th Annual SWS Jazz Gala & Auction on May 3, 2014 at 6:00 pm, then I don’t know what will. These guys are just too cute! While I’m told that the Auction won’t have any used Legos up for bid, there are certainly going to be a number of fantastic items available.  Here are three good reasons why you should consider attending this worthy event:
1. Friends, Friends, 1-2-3, All My Friends Are Here With Me!
After extensive research by SWS parents, they tell me that the SWS Jazz Gala & Auction could possibly be the friendliest auction in town. You won’t meet a single stranger, just lots of friends! Apparently these friends like to have a good time. We’ll let you be the judge.

2. Location, Location, Location
This year the SWS Auction has graduated to the National Press Club. Not only is it a historic and storied location but there will be a ton of room to browse auction items, dance, drink and generally be merry in a beautiful space. Guests will be serenaded by local-legend, Lori Williams and her Jazz Quartet.

3. Deals and Steals
Now for the main event: the auction items this year are fantastic! Better yet, they can be purchased below fair market value.  You could change your entire life at a discount. Seriously. You can learn to kayak, play the ukulele, write and record a song, learn to paint, join a gym, get a stylist, go to a Nats game, get a Rebel Desk, and eat at some of the most fabulous restaurants on the Hill….just to name a few of the great items we have up for grabs.
